Best chance of survival is a shock within 3-5 minutes of collapse (Scott 2017, Myat 2018). Current — not energy in joules — is the physiologically relevant measure (AHA, ERC). At 150J the HS1 delivers 21.0A; a competitor at 200J delivers only 18.5A. The HS1's SMART Biphasic waveform adapts to each patient's impedance in real time to maximise efficacy.
Every item you need for a compliant, ready-to-use AED installation is in the box. No additional purchases required to go live.

The Philips HeartStart HS1 runs automatic self-tests every day, week, and month. It monitors battery capacity, pads readiness, and internal circuitry without any action from you. Your only job is to keep consumables in date — and our AED Guardian Service handles the reminders.
The HS1 automatically tests itself daily, weekly, and monthly. Tests cover battery capacity, pads cartridge readiness, shock delivery circuitry, and all internal systems.
If the AED has been used on a patient:
- 1Check outside of AED for damage, dirt, or contamination
- 2Replace pads: locate latch at top edge, slide to side, lift out used cartridge, insert new — click into place, green PULL handle fully down
- 3Check all supplies and accessories for damage and expiry dates; replace anything used, damaged, or expired
- 4Remove battery for 10 seconds, then reinstall to run battery insertion self-test (BIT)
- 5AED auto self-tests on reinsertion; press button when instructed; AED returns to standby
Used pads cartridges and batteries are hazardous waste — not general rubbish. Do not put in your bin or send to landfill (illegal under S.I. 283/2014).
